Building Up Your Fan Base

This is a hello to all the artists out there. For the last 9 years or so, I have had the privilege to work with some wonderful talent. These artists work hard to complete albums by working in the studio night in and night out. However, not to many people are having the opportunity to become fans of these great local artists. Why? Well, there could be a million reasons why but I can’t cover all that. Let me also say I’m not an expert and these five tips I’m about to share are just suggestions. I write this because I want to see or hear about more people experiencing this great music that I have had the opportunity to be exposed to the last 9 years or so.

My five tips on building up YOUR fan base:

1. play as many free gigs as possible. the money will eventually come.
2. always have business cards available for everyone that hears you perform.
3. giveaway as many cds as you can afford to giveaway. every startup business operates in the red for the first two years or so.
4. have a website that is great looking and allows for some interaction with those visiting.
5. PLAY AS MANY FREE GIGS AS POSSIBLE!

Now go build up YOUR fan base!
