10 X 10 = 100 Fans and 100 X 10 = 1000 Fans

Note that I’m not an expert as I have stated before. I’m a guy with a passion for seeing people succeed in the areas I consider to be artistic. We will say those who are writers, musicians, painters, etc. There is nothing greater than paying your bills by doing honest work that you love. I love meeting authors who have found a way to only write. Or, I meet a musician that only performs. These people are few but I believe there could be more with artists taking the right approach to building up a fan base. It takes a fan base to progress into leaving that 9 to 5.
Here are the thoughts from the guy that isn’t an expert but passionate about seeing you succeed. Lol…
Today, I want you to consider doing this. Go find 10 blogs online that are ran by individuals. These blogs do not have to be the top ten blogs online. They just need to be blogs with a few followers. You will want to look at the blogs comments to get an idea of how many followers the blog has; however, some blogs have plenty of followers but they don’t comment much. Once you have identified the 10, contact the blogger about doing an interview with you, or they could do a review of some sort, covering your work. However, I say ask about doing an interview. The interview allows his readers to get to know you. We love becoming fans of people we think we know. Go for the interview!
Now, you have 10 interviews. The hope is that from these 10 interviews you gain 10 fans which equal a 100 new fans. From here, you have to believe the 100 will share with 10 of their friends about this new artist they learned about i.e. you which equals a 1000.
You should find a way to reward your fans i.e. free downloads, free books, free shows, etc. Building your fan base takes strategically marketing yourself. Again, do as many free shows a possible because the day of charging to perform will come.
However, you must be honest with yourself concerning your product. Your product may not be worth purchasing but you’re good enough to follow for free. This is hard to determine but ask those around you that you trust concerning your product. You maybe only good enough to follow for free but not for a price. This means people are showing up at the show but not buying your product.
